Coming from significantly different perspectives, areas and problems, indicated in a series of systematic descriptive analysis of particularily, the northen part of Piacenza, this project identifies the so called fringe barrier, wich represents not only a literal way of no accessibility and neglection of this area, but a larger circle consisting of a numerous abandoned areas that encompass many significant elements such as flooding of the river Po, highway versus railway barriers, environmental and social degredation, the grey atmosphere of industrial emission, the lack of public spaces, the long history of agriculture and industrial production, and so on. Such elements make this part of the city very distant and forgotten.

Hence the project’s main concept, starts by firstly solving this fringe barrier and then creating a homogenous web of networks intersecting through the fringe and connecting it with the rest of the city. The proposal imagines a scenario, a layered composite of patches, corridors, networks, nodes, edges, and interfaces, designed in four layers, starting with a new mobility system, a new water management system, a variety of landscapes and a chaotic system of social and economic activities.
